I’m always amazed at what a huge hit these Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks are very time I make them.  It surprises me so much because there’s nothing to them.  I mean they are soooo simple, but everyone LOVES them! Golden brown garlic parmesan breadsticks piled on a white plate with a baking sheet of more behind

Since we’re in the midst of the holiday season, I thought I’d share this gem of a recipe with you!  These Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks deserve to be on your table.  They pull double duty too.  1) They’re great on your dinner plate Simple salad with parmesan dressing on a white plate with a gold charger with a breadstick and 2) they make a fun appetizer.  Simply stand them up in a wide mouth glass and set them out.  They’re irresistible!

Easy Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks Recipe

  1. Thaw out a package of puff pastry 5 simple ingredients for garlic parmesan breadsticks: puff pastry, egg, parmesan cheese, italian seasoning and garlic salt
  2. Cut each sheet into 6 strips (about 1 1/2 inches wide) cutting puff pastry
  3. Brush with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1-2 tablespoons water) brushing with egg wash
  4. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and dried Italian seasoning puff pastry topped with cheese and seasoning before twisting
  5. Twist and brush with egg wash again twisted breadsticks with cheese
  6. Sprinkle with more grated parmesan cheese
  7. Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake in a 400F preheated oven for 15 minutes until golden brown and flakey garlic parmesan breadsticks coming out of oven

Tips for Making Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks

  • Let the puff pastry thaw completely – if you don’t it will tear and it will be difficult to maneuver
  • Use a pizza wheel to cut straight even strips
  • After cutting the pastry into strips, brush the egg wash on both sides, then twist – the egg acts like glue and keeps it together as it cooks
  • Make extra! These will go fast! cooling on rack

Breadstick Variations

Instead of using parmesan, rosemary and garlic, have fun playing around with the spice blend.  Here’s some ideas to get you going!

  • Herbs de Provence and grated Gruyere (Swiss cheese)
  • Cinnamon and sugar
  • Cinnamon, sugar and chopped nuts
  • Shredded cheddar, onion powder and garlic
  • Italian Seasoning, parmesan, garlic
  • Curry powder
  • Cumin, garlic, onion powder

Regardless of how you serve them up, they make a beautiful (and tasty) presentation on any table!
