Recently I was interviewed by Nicole of BFF with the Chef! Here’s the link to my interview with her: BFF with the Chef – Madalaine of Lakeside Table. We had such a great time talking about why I chose to go to culinary school, can’t be without kitchen tips, favorite easy healthy go to recipes, and some of our best family stories. If you want to know a little more about me, it’s all in there!
A little about Madalaine…
When I was 16 I got a job working in a small restaurant in St. Louis, Patty Long. Not only did I fall in love with the food and the vibrant eclectic staff, but I fell head over heels for the electric hustle and energy of the kitchen. While working on an Economic degree and even after getting a corporate job, I couldn’t stay away from the industry. I waited tables in college and then moonlighted for catering companies in Washington D.C. as a server as well as doing kitchen prep. I loved it all!
Now, I help people who crave a delicious life! This is the place where you’ll find proven recipes and tons of tips I learned earning my degree in the Culinary Arts with Escoffier and working in the catering biz. Why I started Lakeside Table
Coming up with ideas for what to make for dinner is the hardest part of cooking. I love sharing easy dishes that will help you WOW your loved ones around your table. For instance, make popovers one night instead of dinner rolls, or spiral zucchini instead of spaghetti, or try your hand at an easy roast chicken!

Meet my kids!
I’m so lucky! Jerry and our kids (left to right: Alexandria and Brianna, my 2 beautiful bonus daughters, and Carver) are wonderful to cook for. Believe me, we’ve had a few nights when we were first married that I literally smoked the house down!
For the 5 years I was a single mom, I learned a lot about living well on practically nothing. I started looking for economical ways to take ordinary minutes and transform them into extraordinary moments!
It was during this time, I discovered the delight in my son’s eyes when we’d so something as simple as light a candle at dinner. I found out that just putting a big hat on made a backyard peanut butter & jelly picnic pretty darn special. And I also learned that sometimes it’s fun to turn up a friend’s car stereo, lip sync, and dance in the front yard… just because it’s Tuesday.
Everything here is inspired by our family stories and the travel adventures we’ve taken over the years. I hope they help you have fun in your kitchen too!
